Frances's mom is an experienced seamstress who enjoys sewing projects and
who wants to help us save money. She graciously agreed to sew Frances's wedding dress. They looked at patterns online, trying to find one similar to Frances's favorite (and most modestly flattering) summer dress. They chose this one:

Frances's Notes:

My dress basically follows the sleeved pattern (Dress A - pink and black examples),
with the empire waist and little darts on the bust. Mom made two changes
to the pattern: 1) no sleeves and 2) a small train that can be buttoned up for the reception.

I chose a smooth white satin fabric for the dress. We will put a satiny ribbon around the waist and beaded applique around the neckline and waist.

In April my dad flew into Charlotte for a day's layover. He brought the unhemmed dress for a first fitting and we pinned it up and took pictures so that Mom can make alterations. I'm not going to share those pictures - I do want there to be some element of surprise! ;)

My bridesmaids will also have their dresses made. I chose a periwinkle blue satin
fabric
for them and they will choose their own dress patterns.
